Resophonic Parts

If you need resophonic parts I hold the largest stock in Australia. If I don't have or can't get it, its probably not available. Most parts are in stock.

I only sell what I consider to be the best quality parts at value for money prices.

PLEASE NOTE: PRICES DO NOT INCLUDE POSTAGE. I DON'T CHARGE FOR HANDLING AND ONLY CHARGE WHAT THE POST OFFICE CHARGES

NEW COVERPLATES FOR 91/2" RESOPHONIC GUITARS.

The above coverplates are all for O style guitars. All are predrilled and but may not fit screw thread holes in body. As most metal bodies are brass drilling new holes is easy. With wood bodies drilling new holes is not an issue. All are nickel plated. So get one now and give your Reso a custom look.

All retail at $85.00

I have found a source for ukulele cover plates and cheap uke cones. If you are building a cigar box guitar/uke these are what you need.

Prices:

Uke coverplate $65.00

Uke cone (no biscuit) $30.00

Cover plates also available for Dobro style guitars and also tricones.

At last I have found a source for inexpensive T-bridges.

T-Bridge for tricone resophonics.

I cannot find them anywhere at this price.

The cheapest I can find is US$25.00 on Ebay.

UPGRADES, SET UPS, REPAIRS

AND SERVICING

Nothing leaves my shop until I'm satisfied that it is the best it can be. I just believe in fair prices for all.

As my customers know I always try to follow up with a phone call after the job is done and the owner has had time to play the instrument.

Upgrades can be performed on most resophonic guitars and these start at $170.00 ($200.00 tricone) for  for upgrade and setup without new cone(s). If you require an upgrade on your cone this will cost the upgrade price plus cone(s) cost. The difference between an upgrade and a setup is that the upgrade includes making a new bone nut, removing and replacing the saddle or biscuit bridge with a hand made and fitted saddle or biscuit bridge, recrowning the frets and flattening the spider bridge and cone seat.

A properly set up resophonic guitar will benefit with increased tone, volume and sustain. I specialise in resophonic guitar set ups so the set up is something special. Your guitar can be set to your needs be it full finger style, combination of finger style and slide or full slide.

Servicing a resophonic guitar is different to all other guitars. It is not just a matter of a fingerboard clean, neck adjustment and new strings. Things like cone cleaning, string seating and string break angles are critical to keep your guitar sounding its best. A full service costs $80.00incl strings.

Don't be fooled by people saying they can set up resophonic guitars. There are very few people in Australia who have the expertise to upgrade, setup or even service these guitars properly. I am the major supplier of quality resophonic parts in Australia and have dedicated my workshop to resophonic parts and setups.

General guitar parts and repairs are also available.

Repairs by quote.

E-mail or phone for details.

Restorations
Restorations by quote only. Quotes are free.

I usually carry out sympathetic restoration of guitars. That is, keep the guitar looking its age but make it play and sound like new and also making sure the guitar's structural integrity is maintained.

I will carry out full restorations if that is what is required.

Gaskets

Many vintage resonator guitars, especially the metal bodied ones, had gaskets between the cone and the cone seat. I have been experimenting for some time with ways of making gaskets. I've used neoprene, etc with good results but have gone back to cutting 0.6mm and 0.8mm automotive gasket paper and this works just fine to stop rattles because of slightly less than flat cones or cone seats. Given than less than 2% of sound actually travels through the cone seat gaskets are just the trick.

I am at present making 2 types, a tricone set and a 9" O style gasket.

Introducing the "Legend" cone by Paul Beard.

This new cone is slightly diffent in shape to other cones, triple spun, made from a personally selected aluminium alloy and is highly polished. The result is a cone that produces a clear bell like tone and lower resonant frequency. The cone produces more volume,  response and sustain.
