From Russian Anzacs in Australian History:

The strain experienced by the Australian troops by this time was enormous and was beginning to show. On 21 September [1918] a company from the 1st Australian Battalion which was due to be relieved was, instead, ordered back into action — an order they refused to obey. A Russian among those who mutinied was Mik Atoff, formerly a miner in West Maitland. The mutineers were court-martialled, accused of desertion, and given sentences that were later suspended.
