Organic
sodium differs from table salt (sodium chloride)

By Dennis L. Myers, M.D.
see "ACIDITY" FOR FULL ARTICLE
Sodium from a plant for example, is much
different than the sodium from table salt. For the basis of this discussion it
would be best to assume that they are not the same at all.
You can eat all the
table salt you want and the cells themselves can still be sodium or base
deficient. The sodium used for building cells has to be organic, from plants
and it is the main base mineral we have because there is so much of it.
Sodium
chloride or table salt serves an entirely different function in the body.

The sodium cellsalts
While I agree that sodium chloride (table salt) is different from the sodium our body
needs to stop acidity, it can be supplied by cellsalts.
It is often stated that we have enough 'sodium' in our diets because of common salt added to food. However,
there are problems in believing that table salt is a complete nutritional source of
sodium. There are
three sodium cellsalts - sodium phosphate, sodium sulphate and sodium chloride.
Common table salt (sodium chloride) is only one of three. For reasons I
can't explain, sodium chloride (table salt) doesn't even seem to treat
conditions which call for the sodium chloride (nat mur) cellsalt. Homeopathic sodium chloride (nat mur) is very effective in treating housedust allergies, allergic
rhinitus, wheezing, sneezing, watery eyes and itchy-sore throat. Normal
table salt doesn't seem to alleviate any of these symptoms. Further,
sodium phosphate and sulphate cellsalts alleviate rheumatic conditions such as
stiff muscles, rheumatic aches and pains and gout. Common table salt doesn't
treat these conditions, therefore it isn't a complete source of sodium.
Sodium phosphate and sodium sulphate can be taken in milligram form and they work well.
Blackmores Sodium Compound contains sodium sulphate 200mg and sodium phosphate 200mg.These
two cellsalts can also be taken in homeopathic form, known as nat phos and nat
sulph respectively. I've heard it said that common table salt has some
nutritional qualities, especially for treating heat cramps in the tropics.
However, from my own experience I've never been able to see that it can be used
to alleviate any sodium deficiency symptoms, even the sodium chloride ones. I
only use the homeopathic form of sodium chloride but haven't got any explanation
for why it should alleviate symptoms while table salt doesn't..

Are you slowly losing your eyesight or hearing as you age? Do you seem to be experiencing erectile dysfunction, prostate difficulties, or other organ and sexually related problems as you grow older? Well, it may be related to your salt consumption.
A slow deterioration of eyesight, hearing, prostate problems, erectile dysfunction, and premature aging are all problems related to smoking, however if you don't smoke and are still experiencing some of these problems as you grow older, you might want to examine your salt consumption. Smoking destroys the elasticity of the arterial walls throughout the entire body and restricts blood flow through the smaller capillaries causing an eventual deterioration of the eyesight, hearing, prostate, and subsequent erectile dysfunction due to an abundance of free radicals1 from constituents of the gas phase of tobacco smoke2 which are deposited on the arteries. This creates serious problems throughout the body and especially to life sustaining organs due to diminished blood flow and lack of oxygen.
Salt also destroys the elasticity of arteries and capillaries just as smoking does except that salt is a totally different constituent. The common name for the damage which salt does to the arteries is hardening of the arteries, and it will ultimately cause a stroke and possible death when an artery eventually becomes too brittle and breaks from the hardening effect that is taking place.
This damage to the arteries is very similar to the tobacco smoke damage. When arteries lack the proper elasticity, blood has a difficult time getting into the capillaries, the small thin-walled vessels, in route to a healthy organ because efficient blood flow is dependent upon proper expansion and contraction of arteries and capillaries. The organ becomes even more effected when the size of the artery decreases due to excessive salt or free radical deposits on the arterial walls. The blood flow through the capillaries diminishes causing deterioration of the eyes, hearing, prostate, and sexual organs. The results can be devastating if an organ cannot get proper blood flow.
The process of aging is directly correlated to the condition of the arteries.3 Deposits from salt and other free radicals form on the arterial walls and are a major contributor to aging. Keeping the arteries clean is the key to longevity and good health.
You have probably been told that you need salt for your body or that a little bit of salt will not hurt you. Well, the truth is that you don't need salt at all. You need sodium! So why all the confusion about needing salt in your diet?
It is like this. Sodium is an important mineral in the body as it is responsible for sending the message from the brain to muscles through the nervous system so that your body will move its muscles on command. When you want to move your arm or any muscle in the body, the brain sends a message to a sodium molecule who passes it to a potassium molecule and then back to a sodium molecule etc., etc., until it gets to its final destination and the muscle moves. This is known as the sodium-potassium ion exchange. Therefore without sodium, you would never be able to move one muscle of your body. Regardless, it is not common table salt that the body needs in order to sustain life. It is sodium. Sodium just happens to be an element in common table salt which is known as sodium chloride and that is where the confusion exists. Therefore, salt is not a necessary compound in order for the body to survive, but rather sodium is the necessary life sustaining element. Ironically, sodium is found in all plants so you are getting plenty of sodium everyday without even realizing it every time you eat a food that comes from a plant.
Studies by the Department of Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin have shown4 that blood pressure is not increased by a high sodium intake unless it is accompanied by chloride. Common table salt being sodium chloride, therefore, actually destroys life rather than sustains it as we are led to believe.
Are you addicted to certain foods because they appear to taste so good? Well, they may be loaded with common table salt. Bertino, Beauchamp, and Engleman5 have shown that the amount of salt preferred is dependent on the amount of salt consumed. In other words, if you are used to eating high amounts of salt, you will be more likely to choose other foods for your diet which are high in salt. The types of food you choose may be entirely dependent on the amount of salt you are consuming.
Food appears to taste better with salt, but it is only an illusion. It is the salt you like and not the food. Have you ever noticed how much more of a certain type of food you will eat when it contains just the right amount of salt? You are convinced that it tastes delicious, but it is only the inclusion of just the right amount of salt that tricks the brain into believing that the food tastes better. Does the food actually taste better or is it just that you like the taste of common table salt? After all, it's no secret that salted food tastes better. The million dollar question is, "Do you really want to include common table salt, a substance that slowly destroys the body over time, in your diet everyday and never give your body a break from it?
It can take as long as two to four days to get all the salt out your body but the first thing you will notice is that your extremities, your hands and feet, will become thinner. You will instantly realize just how swollen your extremities become from including salt in your diet everyday.
How do you know if you are eating too much salt? Under normal conditions, if you become very thirsty after a delicious meal, chances are that meal contained large amounts of salt. By this time the salt has already entered every cell in your body because salt molecules are smaller than the hole in the cell wall and will literally pull water into the cell. Salt molecules essentially become trapped within the cell and osmosis causes the cells to swell, taking water away from other parts of the body, and making you thirsty until you drink enough water so that equilibrium is established and there is the same amount of water on the outside of the cell as there is on the inside. This is the process of osmosis that takes place inside the body when you consume table salt.
Cheese is an excellent example of how the brain can be easily tricked. It is difficult to stop eating cheese with only one bite because it tastes so good. However, have you ever eaten saltless cheese? I guarantee that you will not want a second bite of saltless cheese unless you have previously acquired a taste for it. It is extremely bitter and something you would definitely have to acquire a taste for in order to enjoy it. Another example is butter or margarine. Try using saltless butter or margarine on your toast. You will find out that your toast is absolutely tasteless, and you will realize how you have been tricked all your life. So if you are addicted to salt without knowing it, there is hope.
Once you are eventually aware of your high salt intake, you can then create change. Your preferred salt level can be lowered simply by reducing your overall salt intake.5 In other words, your taste buds can easily adapt to changes if you give them a chance. Restricting salt exposure for 8-12 weeks6 enhances the normal taste of foods and lowers your preferred salt level. Foods extremely high in salt include cheese, butter, margarine, chips, ham, mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise, salsa, soy sauce, canned, and packaged foods. You might have found yourself saying, "I don't ever salt my food." Well, when you're able, read the label. Start looking at the ingredients of all the foods you eat, and you may just find that common table salt is in everything you eat. If it tastes too good to be true, you can bet it's the salt.
Getting your sodium from plants rather than from common table salt is one of the better choices you can make. It has been demonstrated that sodium from plants will not cause high blood pressure. Not only does common table salt, sodium chloride, cause high blood pressure7 and hardening of the arteries, but it also causes unnecessary swelling in every cell of the body and overworks the heart. Getting minerals, like sodium, from plants will help keep your arteries young and elastic. Your blood will flow more efficiently helping to rejuvenate your life sustaining organs, and your sense of smell will improve significantly. Reduction of table salt will assist in prolonging your health, well being, and reduce the risk of strokes which are associated with high levels of common table salt. If you are concerned with longevity and good health, limiting the amount of common table salt in your diet is one of the better choices you can make in your lifetime in order to maintain a healthy and youthful body inside and out.

The Dietary Usefulness of Inorganic vs. Organic
Minerals
http://www.healthspas.co.za/spa-articles-inorganic-versus-organic.php
An example of an inorganic substance is table salt. It
is simply sodium and chloride. No enzymes, thus it is enzymatically inactive and
the body cannot use it. Our bodies cannot attach an enzyme to inorganic
substances (minerals), except at great cost to our health.
The way elements in a compound are connected
determines whether it is organic or inorganic. Here are some definitions:
|
When a mineral is chemically inorganic, it means that
its chemical composition is without carbon. When a mineral is chemically
organic, it means that its chemical composition is with carbon.
When minerals are labeled agriculturally inorganic, it
means that the food grown is tainted with chemical fertilizers. When the mineral
content of food is labeled agriculturally organic, it means that the food
containing the minerals is grown without chemical fertilizers.
When a mineral is nutritionally inorganic, it means
that it is without any organic (carbon-based) molecule. When a mineral is
nutritionally organic, it means that it is chelated or bound to organic
molecules. (Jensen, pp. 74-84)
|
Ted Morter in his book, Health and Wellness , defines
organic minerals as easily broken apart and inorganic minerals as tightly held
together (p. 62).
There is much controversy in the scientific community
as to whether or not the body can utilize inorganic minerals in carrying out
life processes. However, the vast majority of the scientific community
recognizes that ONLY chemically and nutritionally organic food can adequately
provide substances, including minerals, that can be utilized by the body at the
cellular level (pp. 140-145).

Salt Deficiency: the cause of many serious
diseases
Both sea salt and rock salt were well known to the ancient
Greeks who noted that eating salty food affected basic body functions such as
digestion and excretion (urine and stools). This led to salt being used
medically. The healing methods of Hippocrates (460 BC) especially made frequent
use of salt. Salt-based remedies were thought to have expectorant powers. A
mixture of water, salt, and vinegar was employed as an emetic. Drinking a
mixture of two-thirds cow's milk and one-third salt-water, in the mornings, on
an empty stomach was recommended as a cure for diseases of the spleen. A mixture
of salt and honey was applied topically to clean bad ulcers and salt-water was
used externally against skin diseases and freckles. Hippocrates also mentions
inhalation of steam from salt-water. We know today that the antiinflammatory
effects of inhaled salt provide relief from respiratory symptoms (c). Thus, 2000
years ago, Greek medicine had already discovered topical use of salt for skin
lesions, drinking salty or mineralized waters for digestive troubles and
inhaling salt for respiratory diseases!
The doctor and alchemist Paracelsus (1493–1541 A.D.) introduced an entirely
new medical concept. He believed that external factors create disease and
conceived a chemically oriented medical system which contrasted with the
prevalent herbal medicine. Only salted food could be digested properly:
"The human being must have salt, he cannot be without salt. Where there is
no salt, nothing will remain, but everything will tend to rot." He
recommended salt water for the treatment of wounds and for use against
intestinal worms. A hip-bath in salt water was a superb remedy for skin diseases
and itching: "This brine - he said - is better than all the health spas
arising out of nature." He described the diuretic effect of salt
consumption and prescribed salt preparations of different strengths that were
used for instance against constipation.
"In recent years there has been much publicity about the need to reduce
salt consumption in societies where salt is added to many processed foods
(Denton 1984, 584-7). It has tended to be forgotten that some salt intake
is absolutely necessary; that people need salt, sodium chloride, to survive: The
chemical requirements of the human body demand that the salt concentration in
the blood be kept constant. If the body does not get enough salt, a hormonal
mechanism compensates by reducing the excretion of salt in the urine and sweat.
But it cannot reduce this output to zero. On a completely salt-free diet the
body steadily loses small amounts of salt via the kidneys and sweat glands. It
then attempts to adjust this by accelerating its secretion of water, so that the
blood’s salt concentration can be maintained at the vital level. The result is
a gradual desiccation of the body and finally death." Roy
Moxham
An eight-year study of a New York City hypertensive population stratified for
sodium intake levels found those on low-salt diets had more than four times as
many heart attacks as those on normal-sodium diets – the exact opposite of
what the “salt hypothesis” would have predicted. (1995)
Dr. Jeffrey R. Cutler documented no health outcomes benefits of lower-sodium
diets. Salt

Where to purchase real, unrefined salt
Salt for animals and wild life
| An abundance of the ingredients in unrefined
real salt are as synonymous with life today as they were a billion
years ago before single cells appeared here. Lack of them is synonymous
with birth defects, organ failure, decay, diseases, premature aging and
death at a young age.
The problem with salt is not the salt itself but the condition of the
salt we eat - refined! Major producing companies dry their salt in huge
kilns with temperatures reaching 1200 degrees F, changing he salt's
chemical structure, which in turn adversely affects the human body. The
facts are that in the heating process of salt, the element sodium
chloride goes off into the air as a gas. What remains is sodium
hydroxate which is irritating to the system and does not satisfy the
body's hunger and need for sodium chloride. Sodium chloride is one of
the 12 daily essential minerals. In countries which do not alter their
salt supply, heart disease and arthritis are so rare that many doctors
have never seen a case. Their salt is dried from the ocean by the sun.
Many people believe that salt is harmful to the human body. The truth is
we cannot live without salt (sodium chloride). From salt the body makes
hydrochloric acid which is one of the essential digestive fluids. There
is not enough natural salt in our foods, so we must supplement our diet.
When salt is withheld, weakness and sickness follow. Try this
experiment: Mix a spoonful of salt in a glass of water and let it stand
overnight. If the salt collects on the bottom of the glass, it has been
processed. NATURAL SALT DISSOLVES! Salt that will not dissolve in water
cannot dissolve in your body. Any foreign substance that collects in the
body organs and tissues will eventually result in malfunctioning of
essential body processes: heart disease, arthritis, hardening of the
body tissues and arteries, calcium deposits in the joints, etc. Natural
organic salt (saline) will not cause calcification in your body. REAL
SALT can dissolve damaging calcium deposits in the body.
Science and medicine have tried to define the precise roles of salt
in the healthy and diseased human organism. Blood, sweat, and tears all
contain salt, and both the skin and the eyes are protected from
infectious germs by the anti-bacterial effect of salt. When salt is
added to a liquid, particles with opposite charges are formed: a
positively charged sodium ion and a negatively charged chloride ion.
This is the basis of osmosis which regulates fluid pressure within
living cells and protects the body against excessive water loss (as in
diarrhoea or on heavy sweating). Sodium and chloride ions, as well
as potassium ions, create a measurable difference in potential across
cell membranes. This ensures that the fluid inside living cells remains
separate from that outside. Thus, although the human body consists
mainly of water, our "inner ocean" does not flow away or
evaporate. Sodium ions create a high pressure of liquid in the kidneys
and thus regulate their metabolic function. Water is extracted through
the renal drainage system. The body thus loses a minimal amount of
essential water. Out of 1500 litres of blood which pass daily through
the kidneys, only about 1.5 litres of liquid leave the body as urine.
Salt is "fuel" for nerves. Streams of positively and
negatively charged ions send impulses to nerve fibres. A muscle cell
will only contract if an impulse reaches it. Nerve impulses are partly
propelled by co-ordinated changes in charged particles.
"Fish from the ocean will die quickly if placed in a solution of
refined salt and water. The sodium
chloride, in its form as it comes from the refinery, is actually
poisonous to them. Bottom line, is that yes it can be harmful to consume
too much refined salt, but you cannot consume too much natural
unrefined salt."
SALT IS VITAL
FOR OUR ANIMALS TOO!
Herds of elephants risk injury and death in a perilous journey to hidden
salt caves where they supplement their sodium deficient diets. Our pets
also suffer from sodium deficiency.

Salt Intake is Vital
Salt is a vital substance for the survival of all
living creatures, particularly humans. Water and salt regulate the water
content of the body. Water itself regulates the water content of the
interior of the cell by working its way into all of the cells it
reaches. It has to get there to cleanse and extract the toxic wastes of
cell metabolisms. Salt forces some water to stay outside the cells. It
balances the amount of water that stays outside the cells. There are two
oceans of water in the body; one ocean is held inside the cells of the
body, and the other ocean is held outside the cells. Good health depends
on a most delicate balance between the volume of these oceans, and this
balance is achieved by salt - unrefined salt.
When water is available to get inside the cells freely, it is
filtered from the outside salty ocean and injected into the cells that
are being overworked despite their water shortage. This is the reason
why in severe dehydration we develop an edema and retain water. The
design of our bodies is such that the extent of the ocean of water
outside the cells is expanded to have the extra water available for
filtration and emergency injection into vital cells. The brain commands
an increase in salt and water retention by the kidneys. This is how we
get an edema when we don't drink enough water.
Initially, the process of water filtration and its
delivery into the cells is more efficient at night when the body is
horizontal. The collected water, that mostly pools in the legs, does not
have to fight the force of gravity to get onto the blood circulation. If
reliance of this process of emergency hydration of some cells continues
for long, the lungs begin to get waterlogged at night, and breathing
becomes difficult. The person needs more pillows to sit upright to
sleep. This condition is the consequence of dehydration. However, you
might overload the system by drinking too much water at the beginning.
Increases in water intake must be slow and spread out until urine
production begins to increase at the same rate that you drink water.
When we drink enough water to pass clear urine, we also pass
out a lot of the salt that was held back. This is how we can get rid of
edema fluid in the body; by drinking more water. Not diuretics, but more
water!! In people who have an extensive edema and show signs of their
heart beginning to have irregular or very rapid beats with least effort,
the increase in water intake should be gradual and spaced out, but not
withheld from the body. Naturally, salt intake should be limited for two
or three days because the body is still in an overdrive mode to retain
it. Once the edema has cleared up, salt should not be withheld from the
body.
Salt has many other functions than just regulating
the water content of the body. Here are some of the more vital functions
of salt in the body:
1. Salt is most effective in stabilizing irregular
heartbeats and, Contrary to the misconception that it causes high blood
pressure, it is actually essential for the regulation of blood pressure
- in conjunction with water. Naturally the proportions are critical.
2. Salt is vital to the extraction of excess
acidity from the cells in the body, particularly the brain cells.
3. Salt is vital for balancing the sugar levels in
the blood; a needed element in diabetics.
4. Salt is vital for the generation of
hydroelectric energy in cells in the body. It is used for local power
generation at the sites of energy need by the cells.
5. Salt is vital to the nerve cells' communication
and information processing all the time that the brain cells work, from
the moment of conception to death.
6. Salt is vital for absorption of food particles
through the intestinal tract.
7. Salt is vital for the clearance of the lungs of
mucus plugs and sticky phlegm, particularly in asthma and cystic
fibrosis.
8. Salt is vital for clearing up catarrh and
congestion of the sinuses.
9. Salt is a strong natural antihistamine.
10. Salt is essential for the prevention of muscle
cramps.
11. Salt is vital to prevent excess saliva
production to the point that it flows out of the mouth during sleep.
Needing to constantly mop up excess saliva indicates salt shortage.
12. Salt is absolutely vital to making the
structure of bones firm. Osteoporosis, in a major way, is a result of
salt and water shortage in the body.
13. Salt is vital for sleep regulation. It is a
natural hypnotic.
14. Salt is a vitally needed element in the
treatment of diabetics.
15. Salt on the tongue will stop persistent dry
coughs.
16. Salt is vital for the prevention of gout and
gouty arthritis.
17. Salt is vital for maintaining sexuality and
libido.
18. Salt is vital for preventing varicose veins
and spider veins on the legs and thighs.
19. Salt is vital to the communication and
information processing nerve cells the entire time that the brain cells
work - from the moment of conception to death.
20. Salt is vital for reducing a double chin. When
the body is short of salt, it means the body really is short of water.
The salivary glands sense the salt shortage and are obliged to produce
more saliva to lubricate the act of chewing and swallowing and also to
supply the stomach with water that it needs for breaking down foods.
Circulation to the salivary glands increases and the blood vessels
become "leaky" in order to supply the glands with water to
manufacture saliva. The "leakiness" spills beyond the area of
the glands themselves, causing increased bulk under the skin of the
chin, the cheeks and into the neck.
21. Sea salt contains about 80 mineral elements
that the body needs. Some of these elements are needed in trace amounts.
Unrefined sea salt is a better choice of salt than other types of salt
on the market. Ordinary table salt that is bought in the super markets
has been stripped of its companion elements and contains additive
elements such as aluminum silicate to keep it powdery and porous.
Aluminum is a very toxic element in our nervous system. It is implicated
as one of the primary causes of Alzheimer's disease.
22. Twenty-seven percent of the body's salt is in
the bones. Osteoporosis results when the body needs more salt and takes
it from the body. Bones are twenty-two percent water. Is it not obvious
what happens to the bones when we're deficient in salt or water or both.

Dr. Batmanghelidj MD - "Use 1/4 tsp. of sea salt for every
quart of water you drink. Use a good sea salt,
one with at least 80 minerals, liberally with food. As long
as you drink the water, you can use the salt. Some put it in their
water, some lick it off their hand, some season their foods after
cooking. It's up to you. Make sure you take potassium daily (banana,
orange juice, etc) "
Salt water when drunk has an expectorant effect in the stomach and
increases gastric juice secretion. It raises the level of stomach acid,
hastens its production, impedes or stimulates stomach motricity and
emptying-rate (depending upon the salt concentration), increases the
secretion of the pancreas, and at higher salt concentrations stimulates
the formation of bile acids.
The Mayo Clinic had pronounced Lloyd Palmer, of Minnesota, as
incurable. Since 1965 he had suffered from excruciatingly painful
arthritis of his spinal column -- ankylosing spondylitis. His spine
twisted and lost movement until, he says, he became a "walking
comma." He suffered pain for 31 years, until he started to drink
water and take salt. He writes: "I continue to be pain-free with my
ankylosis spondylitis one year after starting the water/salt regime. My
blood pressure is normal as well. I thank God every day for allowing me
to finally be pain-free." Lloyd Palmer's story is so incredible
that Paul Harvey reported it on his ABC News program. He also wrote a
syndicated column, printed in a few hundred newspapers. more

Beware
of "Sea salt" Labels
On the labels of many packaged food, in supermarkets as well as health
food stores the name "sea salt" appears often. Reading this,
we feel safe and reassured, thinking that when it comes to the salt part
of the ingredients. This supermarket or health food store "sea
salt" has been totally refined. At its origin, it may have come
from the sea, but:
It has been harvested mechanically from dirt or concrete basins with
bulldozers and piped through metal conduits; put through many degrading
artificial processes; heated under extreme heat levels in order to crack
its molecular structure; robbed of all of its essential minerals that
are essential to our physiology;
These elements are extracted and sold separately to industry. Precious
and highly prized by the salt refiners, these bring more profits than
the salt itself. Further adulterated by chemical additives to make it
free- flowing, bleached, and iodized. To call what remains "sea
salt" would be quite misleading. In addition, harmful chemicals
have been added to the processed, altered unnatural substance to mask
and cover up all of the impurities it has. These added chemicals include
free flowing agents, inorganic iodine, plus dextrose and bleaching
agents. Standard salt additives: Potassium-Iodide (added to the
salt to avoid Iodine deficiency disease of thyroid gland), Sugar (added
to stabilize Iodine and as anti-caking chemical), Aluminum
silicate.

. Long before the earth knew pollutants of any kind, a huge, ancient
sea covered what is now North America. Pure, natural salt was the main
ingredient of this sea, and over millions of years, the water in the sea

during the earth's Jurassic era, a range of volcanoes erupted around the
ancient sea bed, sealing the salt with thick volcanic ash, protecting
these precious deposits against the pollution that man would eventually
introduce into the environment. Near the small town of Redmond, in
central Utah, approximately 200 miles south of Salt Lake City, they
carefully extract this salt from deep within the earth, and bring it to
you in its pure, natural state–without any additives, chemicals, or
heat processing. This is RealSalt, full of flavor and natural
goodness–the way salt was meant to be savored. The product of
Utah is kosher certified and is endowed with more than 50 natural
minerals including iodine.

SALT IS GOOD FOR YOU --- IF IT'S THE RIGHT KIND
The salt you buy at the store is only sodium chloride; all of the other
beneficial elements have been removed.
"...They then refine this salt. This is where things go wrong,
at least in terms of your health. The salt is refined to remove
impurities, to make it attractive and uniform in appearance, and to
extract most of the mineral elements. When they have finished refining
your salt, it looks great, and flows easily out of your salt shaker, but
82 of the 84 mineral elements have been extracted. They have added
chemical additives which bleach the salt whiter, prevent water
absorption while the salt is in the box, make the salt flow freely in
your salt shaker, and add iodine and iodine stabilizers. The chemical
additives which prevent the refined salt from absorbing water while it
is in the box also prevent the refined salt from being properly absorbed
in your body. This is why we are constantly being told that it is
harmful to our health to consume too much salt. Natural salt, which has
not been refined, can be consumed in any amount. As a matter of fact, it
is impossible to consume too much natural unrefined salt! Why? Because
the body, with its natural affinity for unrefined salt, will simply pass
the excess unrefined salt out of our bodies."
Why are so many people with heart disease put on a salt-restricted
diet? The problem with salt is not the salt itself but the condition of
the salt we eat! Major producing companies dry their salt in huge kilns
with temperatures reaching 1200 degrees F, changing he salt's chemical
structure, which in turn adversely affects the human body. The facts are
that in the heating process of salt, the element sodium chloride goes
off into the air as a gas. What remains is sodium hydroxate which is
irritating to the system and does not satisfy the body's hunger and need
for sodium chloride. Sodium chloride is one of the 12 daily essential
minerals. In countries which do not alter their salt supply, heart
disease and arthritis are so rare that many doctors have never seen a
case. Their salt is dried from the ocean by the sun. Many people believe
that salt is harmful to the human body. The truth is we cannot live
without salt (sodium chloride). From salt the body makes hydrochloric
acid which is one of the essential digestive fluids. There is not enough
natural salt in our foods, so we must supplement our diet. When salt is
withheld, weakness and sickness follow. Try this experiment: Mix a
spoonful of salt in a glass of water and let it stand overnight. If the
salt collects on the bottom of the glass, it has been processed. NATURAL
SALT DISSOLVES! Salt that will not dissolve in water cannot disolve in
your body. Any foreign substance that collects in the body organs and
tissues will eventually result in malfunctioning of essential body
processes: heart disease, arthritis, hardening of the body tissues and
arteries, calcium deposits in the joints, etc. Natural organic salt
(saline) will not cause calcification in your body. REAL SALT can
dissolve damaging calcium deposits in the body
THE RIGHT KIND SALT IS VITAL FOR YOUR
ANIMALS TOO!
Herds of elephants risk injury and death in a perilous journey to hidden
salt caves where they supplement their sodium deficient diets. Our pets
also suffer from sogdium deficiency. Farmers place salt-blocks on their
pasture so that their livestock and all other animals can lick the salt
to their heart's content.
An abundance of the ingredients in unrefined real salt are as
synonymous with life today as they were a billion years ago before
single cells appeared here. Lack of them is synonymous with birth
defects, organ failure, decay, diseases, premature aging and death at a
young age. Long before the earth knew pollutants of any kind, a huge,
ancient sea covered what is now North America. Pure, natural salt was
the main ingredient of this sea, and over millions of years, the water
in the sea evaporated, leaving the salt in undisturbed deposits.
In her marvellous book, Wild
Health: How Animals Keep Themselves Well and What We Can Learn From Them
Cindy Engles, Ph.D. documents that for millennia, humans have
observed animals in the wild eating plants and minerals and applying
naturally occurring topical antitoxins from the same sources to combat
infectious wounds, parasites and internal disorders. Herds of elephants
risk injury and death in a perilous journey to hidden salt caves where
they supplement their sodium deficient diets. Monkeys rub
poisonous millipedes on their fur to repel biting, disease-carrying
insects. Birds line their nests with parasite-resistant herbs. Engel
details a world where nature is the pharmacy and every animal is its own
practitioner.
Alert: don't supplement your
animal's diet with sodium chloride (common table salt); all of the
other beneficial elements have been removed. Animals need unrefined,
unprocessed real salt. Major producing companies dry their salt in
huge kilns with temperatures reaching 1200 degrees F, changing he
salt's chemical structure, which in turn adversely affects the human
body. Avoid the common refined table salt. Domesticated animals need
the right kind of salt
One way to provide salt to your hors is to provide two
separate water bowls. One bowl with
real-unrefined-unheated-natural-sea-salt and one bowl without salt, so
that the animals can consume as much salt as they require. They will
drink from the bowl that contains salted water, however once they have
had enough salt, they will drink from the bowl that has plain water.
Salt
Facts
Salt has become an inexpensive and readily available commodity that is
taken for granted by most people. But in older times, wars were fought
over salt, and huge taxes were also levied on it. In some places, salt
was in such high demand that it was minted into coins that were as
valuable as gold and functioned as the basic currency for ancient
civilizations.
Where salt was scarce it was traded ounce for ounce with gold–for
as the Roman stateman Cassiodorus observed, "Some seek not gold,
but there lives not a man who does not need salt."
Because everyone, rich and poor, craves salt, rulers going back at
least as far as the Chinese emperor Yu in 2200 B.C. have tried mightily
to control and tax it. Salt taxes helped finance empires throughout
Europe and Asia, but also inspired a lively black market, smuggling
rings, riots, even revolutions.
Pure salt consists of the elements sodium and chlorine. Its chemical
name is sodium chloride and its formula is NaCl. Its mineral name is
halite.
Table salt is a chemically simple combination of two components,
sodium and chlorine. The basic components of salt are, by themselves,
potentially dangerous. Sodium will ignite immediately if it comes into
contact with water, and chlorine is poisonous if ingested. In
combination, though, the two elements form sodium chloride, commonly
known as salt. Salt is essential. Each of us contain from four to eight
ounces of salt. In the body, salt is as important to humans as water or
air. It helps maintain the normal volume of blood in the body and also
helps keep the correct balance of water in and around the cells and
tissues. Salt plays an important part in the digestion of food and is
essential in making the heart beat correctly. It is also necessary for
the formation and proper function of nerve fibers, which carry impulses
to and from the brain. Sodium, together with calcium, magnesium and
potassium, helps regulate the body's metabolism. The sodium in salt is
an essential nutrient. In combination with potassium, it regulates the
acid-alkaline balance in our blood and is also necessary for proper
muscle functioning. When we don't get enough sodium chloride, we
experience muscle cramps, dizziness, exhaustion and, in extreme cases,
convulsions and death. Salt is essential to our well being.
For years, many researchers have claimed that salt threatens public
health, mostly by contributing to high blood pressure. Recently, though,
other researchers have begun to change salt's reputation. A recent
review of salt studies conducted over the past two decades concluded
that there's no reason for doctors to recommend reducing sodium intake
for people with normal blood pressure. It may be that most of us are
protected from excessive salt by our kidneys, which regulate the body's
sodium level and eliminate any excess.
Salt cures aren't new. In the early 19th Century, sick people travelled
to rudimentary spas such as French Lick Springs in Indiana and Big Bone
Lick, Kentucky, to soak in salt springs. Today's more luxurious spas
offer salt baths, glows, rubs and polishes to exfoliate dead skin,
stimulate circulation and relieve stress.
All salts come from a sea, but are processed in different ways. The
oceans that once covered the earth left a generous supply of salt beds
and underground deposits.
There are two basic methods for removing salt from the ground:
room-and-pillar mining and solution mining. In room-and-pillar mining,
shafts are sunk into the ground, and miners break up the rock salt with
drills. The miners remove chunks of salt, creating huge rooms that are
separated by pillars of salt. The room-and-pillar method requires that
about half the salt be left behind as pillars. In solution mining, a
well is drilled into the ground, and two pipes are lowered into the
hole. The pipes consist of a small central pipe inside a larger pipe.
The brine is either shipped as a liquid or evaporated in special devices
called vacuum pans to form solid salt.
Crystaline salt deposits are found on every continent. Oceans
contained an estimated four-and-a-half million cubic miles of it.
Only about five percent of the world's annual salt production ends up
as seasoning at the dinner table. The vast majority, however, pours into
chemical plants, where it leads the five major raw materials utilized by
industry: salt, sulfur, limestone, coal and petroleum.
Salt pickles cucumbers, helps pack meat, can vegetables, cure
leather, make glass, bread, butter, cheese, rubber and wood pulp. Salt
has some 14,000 uses, more than any other mineral.
Salt is essential. In humans, it is a basic component of taste, along
with sweet, sour and bitter.
Salt
Deficiency: the cause of all serious diseases
An abundance of the ingredients in unrefined real salt are as synonymous
with life today as they were a billion years ago before single cells
appeared here. Lack of them is synonymous with birth defects, organ
failure, decay, diseases, premature aging and death at a young age.

Healing
with Medicinal and Nutritional Herbs from the Amazon Rain Forest
Disease is a symptom of one or more body systems in distress. When you
nourish and balance the systems, you give your body what it requires to
resist, repair and overcome disease, and to achieve optimal health.
As living foods, these herbal remedies have the ability to support good
blood chemistry, balance energetic frequencies in the body, help cleanse
and detoxify, and more.
The spagyric
processing of the Amazon
herbs is based on ancient bio-energetic principles and is the most
perfect method available to deliver a full body treatment. John
Easterling had a vision of bringing nutritional vitality to the world
and at the same time helping preserve one of our greatest treasures, the
Amazon Rainforest. He searched for the perfect vehicle to do so and he
found it in a 15th century spagyric processing method that was designed
to deliver the energetics (life force) of the plants. He studied the
process, sometimes referred to as plant alchemy, and it was in alignment
with what he wanted to provide. It was the only known method that could
bring forward the essential oil, water soluble and mineral components
(alkaline ash). The result is that it retains the plants original
constitution with more concentrated healing potential than raw plants
can provide. more
Many other herbs purchased at the store or from other companies do
not provide the same benefits as the Amazon
formulas. They frequently use the processing method of percolation.
They separate the three components, oils, liquids and plant fiber and
reunite the oils and liquids, discarding the plant material. In the
matrix of that plant material, called the mark, is the nutrition
designed to nourish the body. AmazonHerb herbal
combinations are based on those used by the Indigenous People of the
Amazon for thousands of years to maintain and optimize health, strength
and stamina. They are the result of a powerful blend of tribal wisdom
and scientific verification that documents and supports the beneficial
properties of these botanicals.
Unlike most nutritional supplements on the
market today, the botanicals in Amazon Herb formulas have not been
altered or fractioned. They have not been extracted from their original
composition. These herbs are never
fumigated, irradiated, genetically engineered or exposed to pesticides
and industrial poisons. The integrity and life force of these plant is
maintained. They are living foods that work, just
as nature intended!

Health
Benefits of Marine Plants (Seaweed)
"There is no family of foods more protective against radiation
and environmental pollutants than sea vegetables ... sea vegetables
can prevent assimilation of different radionuclitides, heavy metals
such as cadmium, and other environmental toxins." Steven
Schecter, N.D
"Sea plants can transform your health. A seaweed
bath is a great way to get the benefits of sea plants all over your
body. Seaweed baths are Nature's perfect body-psyche balancer, and
they're a good way get natural iodine. There are many reasons why I
recommend sea vegetables as part of my healing programs -- weight loss,
cellulite control, detoxification, beautiful hair and skin, and more.
Sea vegetables can transform your health! I believe that when we eat sea
vegetables, and when we take seaweed baths, we are tapping into the
ancestral and restorative source of all life- the ocean. Include sea
vegetables into your diet every day and you 'll see a difference. I do!
Sea plants -- gifts from the sea!" Linda Page,
N.D. Ph.D.
Seaweeds are really not a weed but large marine algae that grow in
the coastal waters of many countries. They include thousands of species
from microscopic plants called phytoplankton to huge floating/anchored
plants commonly seen washed up on shore. Many kinds of seaweed are eaten
by people because they are full of vitamins and iodine. Asian cultures
use seaweed like green beans and carrots are used in the United States.
One of seaweed's most prominent health benefits is its ability to remove
radioactive strontium and other heavy metals from our bodies. Whole
brown seaweeds (not granulated) such as kelp contain alginic acid which
binds with the toxins in the intestines rendering them indigestible and
carries them out of the system.
Healing
Clay - Healing Earth
Clay is renowned to have many uses in promoting health in plants,
animals and humans. Bentonite, Pascalite, as well as other types of
healing clays, have been used by indigenous cultures since before
recorded history. According to Knishinsky, benefits reported by people
using liquid clay for a period of two to four weeks include: improved
intestinal regularity; relief from chronic constipation, diarrhea,
indigestion, and ulcers; a surge in physical energy; clearer complexion;
brighter, whiter eyes; enhanced alertness; emotional uplift; improved
tissue and gum repair; and increased resistance to infections. Clay
works on the entire organism. No part of the body is left untouched by
its healing energies, he notes.
"The eating of clay has been observed in [ native ] peoples and
animals in all parts of the world since antiquity. Early writers
described the widespread use of kanwa ( earth from a lick near Lake Chad
) for animals and humans in Nigeria. Long journeys were made to [ this ]
lick to obtain a tribal supply of this earth, and it was then issued as
rations to cattle and humans... learn

Curing
with Cayenne "If you master only one herb in your life,
master cayenne pepper. It is more powerful than any other." Dr.
Schulze - "In 35 years of practice, and working with the
people and teaching, I have never on house calls lost one heart attack
patient and the reason is, whenever I go in--if they are still
breathing--I pour down them a cup of cayenne tea (a teaspoon of cayenne
in a cup of hot water, and within minutes they are up and around)."
