1782 - July 16. Congress of Wilhelmsbad convened. Probably the most significant event of the era as far as any official coalition between secret society factions:

In this book, religion means a group which has a hierarchical power structure leading up to an invisible God. Naturally the God favors the religion which worships Him. Otherwise, why bother?

Most religions are secret societies. They have an agenda which involves controlling their devotees, all their charity-work notwithstanding. Historically, people seek out secret societies and religions and join them to gain freedom from pain and turmoil. People also join because they are forced to. For example, the country they live in leaves no choice. Such was the case in medieval Europe, where the Roman Catholic Church held the wand of dominance.

But there is another factor. The popular term for it these days is mind control. It used to be brainwashing, hypnotism. I will discuss that aspect at length, in an unusual way.

When I use only the first name of a person, that name is fictitious. The reason is the same in all such cases: to ensure privacy. This book can offer much evidence to support its conclusions, but it cannot rest on absolute proof. Because of the nature of the subject, I have had to rely, in certain crucial situations, on the testimony of anonymous sources. I have also, as I say, chosen to rely on my personal experience, because the story that will now unfold is empty without it.

It now is clear to me that part of the Tradition of Imagination is the assertion that creation is a pre-eminent, or the pre-eminent activity of the human race. 
The key is in how cultures look at their own collective present and their past.
In the West, many generations have been led to believe that religion is the major spiritual expression of civilization.

Who legislated that?
Suppose another activity had taken pre-eminence all the way along the line, coming down in time to us. Suppose, just to choose an example, human beings recognized that efforts to develop and practice real Magic have been the keynotes of civilization, from Sumer to New York.

Magic being, in its own way, a piece of the Tradition of Imagination - even though it is riddled with fakery.

Forget about whether the tradition of magic that did exist in alchemy, witchcraft, and works of the Persian/Egyptian magi is real or just a hope, a spark, a dream. The point is, is the Catholic Church really any more than that? And if not, then why shouldn't academies and cloisters of magic have grown up to be THE spiritual tradition of the West, instead of the Church?

The answer to that is, of course, simple. There are those who push hard and those who don't. There are those who use art to dominate large numbers of minds and there are those who don't. There are those who make wide Earthly power their number one priority, and there are those who don't. There are those who position their god far enough away to withstand any effort to debunk his power.

Imagine for a moment that the striving to achieve what could be called paranormal magic - in all its glory - had somehow managed to become the central spiritual theme of our history. Where would we be now?

Suppose that magical tradition had been, for the most part, honest about its achievements and lack of same, and had painted a grand vision of a possible future in which humans could share in the joy of being able to "manifest matter, travel the realms, communicate over great distances by thought and feeling alone ..."

Where would we be now?

Suppose science and magic had been able to coexist, despite the debris of charlatanism that overlay magic and the willingness to follow institutional authority blindly that infects science?

Or what about this?

Suppose that art and artists had been revered more deeply, since the dawn of time, than the priests? Where would we be now?

I am saying that, in fact, the Tradition of Imagination has existed all over the place in history; it simply has not been pushed to the foreground. It has not been seen as a coherent human desire expressed in every time and every place.

And is it possible that, in the writing of history, figures who were presented as wearing spiritual robes of one Church or another were disguised from the future? Might they really have been, for example, magicians? Might their adherents, victors in a contest to see "whose gods were more powerful," have burned books, books that more accurately called their winning messiahs magicians?

Is popular history really a kind of crap shoot, or a heist, in which the weight allowed for one theme or another depends on who is shading the forms, coloring the figures, arranging the stage lights?

Of course it is.

But what is hidden by this machination is the sheer number of people who, through time, have really been thinking and hoping and desiring along a certain channel.

In the case of the unlabeled Tradition of Imagination, the number of people through history hoping and wishing for its brilliant realization has been gigantic, and if we knew it in our bones, if we, all along, had had the history to know it in our bones, and to know all the heroes, we would long ago have begun to step out into the light and claim our soulship.

It turns out, of course, that alchemy and witchcraft and magic all have had thousands and thousands of practitioners, and embedded in each tradition is imagination of a kind. And there is a literature about Jesus, himself - the greatest symbol in the West - written by his opponents - in contrast to the Bible - which describes Jesus as a practicing magician. When all is said and done, men like Simon Magus and Appollonius of Tyana, both magicians, on-the-road conjurers who lived in the early Christian era, provided rather formidable competition to Jesus in the minds of people of the time. Reading over stories of the miracles they supposedly performed, one is struck by the similarity to stories about Jesus. The mind begins to bend as a new possibility is driven home:

Jesus was another itinerant magician, and his followers won out in the struggle to make him a god.

You could say that the paranormal achievements of Simon Magus and Appollonius were exaggerated - Appollonius, for example, is claimed to have dissolved an entire wedding scene to prove it was all an illusion. It is easy to laugh this off. But then what keeps us from laughing off the works of Jesus?

There is no doubt that all these men were trying to create extraordinary realities.

That is in the Tradition of Imagination.

And in a reasonably generous appraisal, that is what counts.

But let us look a little further into Christ as the pre-eminent symbol of the West, the symbol that has been used to enchant, to fixate, the largest number of people in recorded history.

What happens when we slide out from under the curtains of the Roman Church, when we place the Bible aside and look at another sort of literature on this figure?

What happens to the power of the elegant and prodigious art that has been produced to glorify Jesus, what happens to the pre-defined space, the world, the universe, the pattern, the grand mural of the Catholic Church?

What happens to the Formula of the Secret Society at its highest pinnacle of success?

Morton Smith is the author of a book called Jesus the Magician. At the time of its publication in 1978, Smith was the recipient of uncommon praise from such luminaries as Hugh Trevor-Roper, author and Regius Professor of Modern History at Oxford University, and James Sanders, Professor of Intertestamental and Biblical Studies at the School of Theology at Claremont.

Trevor-Roper, dispelling any notion that Smith was merely cooking up a thesis in left field, wrote, "I marvel at Dr. Smith's exact and delicate scholarship. His method is as exciting as his result. Here is Jesus the magician, one of a swarm of Levantine magicians, before he was stylized in the form that we know."

Sanders asserted, "Smith's knowledge of the Greco-Roman world, Jewish and non-Jewish, in which Christianity arose and developed, is probably unsurpassed in scholarship today."

Smith essentially moves through a field dominated by centuries of suppression and censorship on the part of the Christian church, to flesh out a picture of the historical Jesus.

Smith writes:

... when we ask what people who did not believe in Jesus had to say about him [during his lifetime and immediately following], the answer is hard to come by. Almost everything we know about him is found in the works of his believers, mainly in the gospels, a little in the rest of the New Testament and other early Christian texts.

His believers not only wrote those texts, they also formed an organization, "the Church," that became strong enough three hundred years later to get the support of the government of the Roman empire and use it to suppress the works of anyone who did not agree with them. We are told that in AD 326 the emperor Constantine ordered that the books of "heretics" (Christians who held minority opinions) should be hunted out and destroyed. He evidently did the same for pagan works about Jesus ...

Yet enough fragments about Jesus, from divergent points of view, have survived to allow an assemblage of perceptions of his contemporaries "who did not become his followers ..."

Smith states that the world of Jesus and his contemporaries was "wholly mythological." That is, it was considered by its inhabitants to be full of angels, demons, and gods. The demons caused illnesses and plagues and wars. They could enlist the aid of humans who would perform miracles, "so as to deceive the many. The lower gods [demons] were the rulers of this age, and men [as well as women] who knew how to call on them could get their help for all sorts of purposes." That was the structure of belief.

It was also thought that Yahweh, the highest god, could bring about "disasters, sickness, etc., sent as punishments." For this, he could use demons or angels or human prophets.

Smith writes that most Jews assumed the god Yahweh would eventually "destroy or remodel" the world and "make a new order." The details of this revolution or apocalypse were varied, and there were many debates over which messiahs would take central roles.

In Jesus' time, any person who could help heal or allay symptoms of illness could be elevated to the status of "healer" or - depending on his message to the people - "messiah" or "revolutionary." Such appellations as "charlatan" and "brigand" and street magician also, however, waited in the wings, in case the healer was deemed to be a deceiver.

Some of Jesus' enemies said he "had a demon." They said he was "gluttonous and a drunkard." Frequently, Jesus' non-followers said he was a magician. This term had several levels of distinction, which were sometimes blurred by commentators. A magician could be "healing" only temporarily and by tricks, or through demons, or as entertainment in the marketplace. But he could be a magus, which meant he had both miracles and teachings of importance, about ethics, about the end of the world and the disposition of souls.

"Magician," however, normally implied that a divine messianic link to God was not present. There were exceptions to this. But when Jesus was accused of being a magician, the suggestion was clear: he was not divine.

Professor Smith compares the careers of Jesus and a near-contemporary about whom much is known, Appollonius of Tyana, the magician.

... both were itinerant miracle workers and preachers, rejected at first by their townspeople and brothers ... An inner circle of devoted disciples accompanied each. Both were credited with prophecies, exorcisms, cures, and an occasional raising of the dead. As preachers, both made severe moral demands on their hearers. Both affected epigrammatic utterances and oracular style; they taught as if with authority and came into conflict with the established clergy of the temples they visited and tried to reform. Both were charged with sedition and magic but tried primarily for sedition.

Smith goes further. From non-gospel and gospel sources, he isolates aspects of Jesus' life which place him in the tradition of magicians:

After undergoing a baptism believed to purge him of sin, Jesus experiences the descent of a spirit upon him       - the experiences that made a man a magician ... Then "the spirit drove him out to the desert," a common shamanic phenomenon. After visionary experiences there, he returned to Galilee where his new spiritual power manifested itself in exorcism, in cures of types familiar in magic, in teaching ... and in the call of disciples who, like persons enchanted, were constrained to leave their families and belongings and follow him alone.

With these disciples he lived the predictable life of a traveling magician and holy man - a picaresque existence ... The company was supported by his success as exorcist and healer, which increased and was increased by his fame ... he began to initiate his disciples into his own magical experiences ... the larger text of Mark tells of a young man coming to Jesus by night, in the standard costume of an initiate, for instruction in the mystery ...

Smith calls the Eucharist a pure and traditional case of a primitive magician sharing his blood and body in symbolic form with his followers.

The self-appointed arbiters of history have chosen to blot out the magician's career of Jesus. They enshrined him as the Son of God and also supervised the subsequent accounts of his life. They have given us mural-art of a man artificially elevated beyond whatever his own creations actually were - outside the Tradition of Imagination. In that way, they obscured a real history, and turned a kind of artist into a bizarre figure intent on sacrificing himself so that humanity could achieve redemption. The life-force and imagination are surgically removed from Jesus. Instead we get the mandate for humanity to make a telescoped and narrowed journey through the surrendered body of Christ the Messiah. Toward an artistic invention called salvation.

Is there a lunatic myth to compare with this?

Subsequent official councils of the Catholic Church continued the artistry, more strange by far than any worlds of Surrealism or Dada. The body of Christ was honed and drained and polished into an object of suffering. If life was a veil of tears, and the fathers of the Church did their bit to make it so, then every human in the throes of soul-pain and body-pain could look to the image of the Christ who was so like them, in a way. The deity brought down from the shining gates of Heaven into their territory: the forest of despair.

"This god we can love."

The deception was complete.

Of course, by degrees, and over time, the Formula of the Secret Society became more complex. The liturgical and moral and enforcement possibilities blossomed. From the painter Giotto, through Fra Angelica to Michelangelo and Raphael, the illusion of the One Great One spread itself out for the throngs. Perspective, color-tones, dimensionality, the articulation of the human form - the magician Jesus was made into more things for more audiences.

Art, art, art. All is art.

The Illuminati
"Popular history texts and encyclopedias generally paint the Illuminati as having its origins in 1776 Bavaria. However, the origins go back much further. The Illuminati are tied directly through masonry to the sun and Isis cults of ancient Egypt.

"The term "Illuminati" was used by one early writer, Menendez Pelayo, as early as 1492 and is attributable to a group known as the "Alumbrados" of Spain. The Alumbrados were said to receive secret knowledge from an unknown higher source, resulting in superior human intelligence. This group was condemned by an edict of the Grand Inquisition in 1623, in what was another battle in the long-running war between the catholic Church and the secret societies.

"Some writers claim that a group known as the "Illumined Ones" was founded by Joachim of Floris in the eleventh century and taught a primitive, supposedly Christian doctrine of "poverty and equality." This tactic to disguise Illuminism behind a thin veil of Christianity is now a well-established theme. Later, this group is said to have become violent, plundering the rich and thereby discrediting Christianity as a whole.

"Still other writers trace the Illuminati to the dreaded Ishmalean sect of Islam, also known as "the Assassins." Founded in 1090 by Hassan Sabah, this group combined the use of the drug hashish with murder as their main path to illumination.

"Killing was a mystical experience to this branch of the Mystery Schools. They not only maintained their control by murder and threats of murder, they believed that the assassin could acquire the gnosis, or soul energy from the victim. This is the theory behind the human and animal sacrifices of Satanists throughout history (and the ritual child abuse etc).

"Primitive religions get the same effect by dancing and drumbeating. Seeking this form of illumination was the main attraction of drugs like marijuana, hashish, and LSD to teenagers of the 1960s and the 1970s. Buddhists can gain the same illumination through sexual rituals known as Tantric Yoga, or through the different forms of mediation. Witchcraft covens still meet in the nude and participate in group sexual rituals for the same effect. Mass participation in animal sacrifice is another way to scavenge gnosis.

"The sad fact is that although sex, drugs, dancing, and drumbeating are believed to release a lot of gnosis, Satanists believe that sacrifices release more of it than anything else. Such are the dark and sordid machinations of the deluded souls who think their gnosis accumulations and illumination will give them some form of deity or immortality. . ."

". . . In what may be the most beautifully composed denunciation of Masonry ever written, de Poncins wrote:

"The great task of freemasonry is to spread ideas sometimes noble and beautiful in appearance but in reality destructive, of which the prototype is the famous motto: Liberty, equality, fraternity."

"Masonry, a vast organism of propaganda, acts by slow suggestion, spreading the revolutionary ferment in an insidious manner. The heads sow it among the inner lodges, these transmit it to the lower lodges whence it penetrates into the affiliated institutions and into the press, which takes in hand the public."

"Tirelessly and during the necessary number of years, the suggestion . . . works upon public opinion and fashions it to wish for the reforms from which nations die. In 1789 and 1848 [the years of the French revolutions], freemasonry, in its momentary command of power, failed in its supreme endeavor. Taught by these experiences, its progress has become slower and surer. When once the revolutionary preparation is obtained and judged sufficient, masonry leaves the field to the militant organizations, Carbonari, Bolshevists, or other open or secret societies, and retires into shadows in the background. There it is not compromised; in case of check, it seems to have remained apart, and is all the better able to continue or take up again its work, like a gnawing worm, obscure and destroying."

"Masonry never works in the full light of day. Every one knows of its existence, its meeting places and of many of its adepts, but one is ignorant of its real aims, its real means, its real leaders. The immense majority of masons themselves are in that position. They are only the blind machinery of the sect which they serve . . .Many honest masons are so blind that they would be stupefied if they knew for what they are being used."

The Masonic Ritual revealed
"Every Mason swears to a set of oaths so ancient that a separate term has been set aside to describe them. These are called "blood oaths."

"Masonry, as we know it today in America, is thought of as having thirty-third degrees, or levels. Many offshoot organizations have developed over the years that have attempted to add additional degrees above the publicly known thirty-three. Mormonism is one such offshoot. As shown in a later chapter, its founder Joseph Smith, and most, if not all of his initial inner circle of supporters were Masons. He borrowed heavily from Masonic ritual for his newly-created Mormon ceremonies.

"With each successive degree, the Mason must swear to ever more cruel and barbarous oaths. The following details of the initiation oaths of the first three degrees of Masonry are closely guarded Masonic secrets. In fact, every Mason musts wear to kill any fellow mason who reveals them. Fortunately for humanity, however, several brave souls in the last 200 years have felt compelled to speak out, publishing this "secret work" for the world to see. It is thanks to these courageous men that we have the exact wording and rituals of at least the first three degrees."

The personal experience of Lucifer is not often described in literature. What it was like to be Hitler living in a physical body with the incarnational Luciferian energy can only be hinted at in his biographies. The traditional Hollywood idea of fangs and claws and large 'devilish' bodies is a stereotype that does not equate to the assimilation of these energies into 3rd dimensional living. Perhaps some of Aleister Crowley's life might hint at it in part. Alan Richardson, perhaps to some extent, manifests in his book Earth God Rising, the slow descent into what might be called Luciferianism:

Ankh-f-n-Khonsu, who lived a full life sometime during those reigns, was the priest who brought about the Aeon of Osiris to replace that of Isis. And, as is the way of magic, he was also the one who brought it to an end.

Influence of secret societies in shaping history

Even the French Revolution was orchestrated into existence by elements of the NWO. The instigation of a trumped-up war as a cover for amassing fortunes can be dated back to at least the 12th Century when only a core group of nine members of the Knights Templar, the military arm of a secret society known as the Priory of Sion, kicked off the The Crusades that lasted for over a century and a half.

A rift later developed between the Templars and the Priory of Sion when Jerusalem was lost to Saracen Turks in 1187. In 1307, the king of France, Philippe the Fair, coveted the wealth and was jealous of the Templars' power. The French king, being a puppet of the Priory of Sion, set out to arrest all the Templars in France on October 13.

While many Templars were seized and tortured, including their Grand Master, Jacques de Molay, many other Templars (who had been tipped off) escaped. They eventually resurfaced in Portugal, in Malta (as the Knights of Malta) and later in Scotland as The Scottish Rites of Free Masonry.

The acquisition and consolidation of ever greater wealth, natural resources, total political power, and control over others are the motivating forces which drive the decisions of the NWO leaders.

It may be instructive to learn what US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and the "Prince of Darkness" Richard Perle were doing last weekend. From May 15 to 18 they were guests at the Trianon Palace Hotel, close to the spectacular Versailles palace near Paris, for the annual meeting of the Bilderberg club.

Depending on the ideological prism applied, the Bilderberg club may be considered an ultra-VIP international lobby of the power elite of Europe and America, capable of steering international policy from behind closed doors; a harmless "discussion group" of politicians, academics and business tycoons; or a capitalist secret society operating entirely through self interest and plotting world domination.

The Bilderberg club is regarded by many financial and business elites as the high chamber of the high priests of capitalism. You can't apply for membership of such a club. Each year, a mysterious "steering committee" devises a selected invitation list with a maximum 100 names. The location of their annual meeting is not exactly secret: they even have a headquarters in Leiden, in the Netherlands. But the meetings are shrouded in the utmost secrecy. Participants and guests rarely reveal that they are attending. Their security is managed by military intelligence. But what is the secretive group really up to? Well, they talk. They lobby. They try to magnify their already immense political clout, on both sides of the Atlantic. And everybody pledges absolute secrecy on what has been discussed.

The Bilderberg mingles central bankers, defense experts, press barons, government ministers, prime ministers, royalty, international financiers and political leaders from Europe and America. Guests this year, along with Rumsfeld and Perle (US Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz is also a member) included banker David Rockefeller, as well as various members of the Rockefeller family, Henry Kissinger, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, Queen Sofia and King Juan Carlos of Spain, and high officials of assorted governments. The Bilderberg does not invite - or accept - Asians, Middle Easterners, Latin Americans or Africans.

Some of the Western world's leading financiers and foreign policy strategists attend Bilderberg, in their view, to polish and reinforce a virtual consensus, an illusion that globalization, defined under their terms - what's good for banking and big business is good for everybody else - is inevitable and for the greater good of mankind. If they have a hidden agenda, it is the fact that their fabulous concentration of wealth and power is completely dissociated from the explanation to their guests of how globalization benefits 6.2 billion people. Some of the club's earlier guests went on to become crucial players. Bill Clinton in 1991 and Tony Blair in 1993 were invited and duly "approved" by the Bilderberg before they took office.

There are innumerable shady, still unexplained connections between the early Bilderberg club and the Nazis, via Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, the father of Queen Beatrix, who founded the club in Bilderberg in 1954 (the name is taken from a Dutch hotel), aiming to "increase understanding between Europe and North America". Bernhard was a member of Adolf Hitler's SS. One of the founding members of the Bilderberg is Otto Wolff von Amerongen - who actively improved business links between Germany and the Soviet bloc and served on 26 boards of directors, including Deutsche Bank. Few people know him - and perhaps for some good reason: he has been linked to the Nazi's theft of Jewish holdings before and during World War II.

Rumsfeld is an active Bilderberger. So is General Peter Sutherland from Ireland, a former European Union commissioner and chairman of Goldman Sachs and BP. Rumsfeld and Sutherland served together in 2000 on the board of Swiss energy company ABB. And ABB happened to have sold two light-water nuclear reactors to North Korea. At the time, of course, North Korea was not an active member of the "axis of evil".

This year, the Bilderberg meeting in Versailles conveniently merged into the G8 meeting of finance ministers in Paris, a 20-minute car ride from Versailles, on May 19. The procedure is traditional: what happens in the Bilderberg is usually a preview of what is later discussed at the full G8 gathering, which this year will be held from June 1 to 3 at Evian-les-Bains in the French Alps.

On Bilderberg's first full working day on May 15, French President Jacques Chirac delivered a welcoming speech, trying to bury the bitter divisions among the guests over the war on Iraq by emphasizing that the US and Western Europe are longtime allies. But Chirac's gracious hosting may not have been enough to soothe the hawks in the US administration still miffed at "pacifist" France.

An influential Jewish European banker reveals that the ruling elite in Europe is now telling their minions that the West is on the brink of total financial meltdown; so the only way to save their precious investments is to bet on the new global crisis centered around the Middle East, which replaced the crisis evolving around the Cold War.

According to a banking source in the City of London connected to Versailles, what has transpired from the 2003 meeting is that American and European Bilderbergers have not exactly managed to control their split over the American invasion and occupation of Iraq, as well as over Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's hardline policy against the Palestinians. As the Bilderbergers were chattering away, Sharon all but rejected Bush's Middle East road map, already endorsed by the other members of the so-called quartet: the United Nations, the European Union and Russia. This road map, as it stands, is over: even the presence of US Secretary of State Colin Powell - who stopped by Versailles to brief the Bilderbergers - was not enough to persuade Sharon to even discuss the dismantling of Israeli settlements in Palestinian territory.

American imperial adventures are usually rehearsed at Bilderberg meetings. Europe's elite were opposed to an American invasion of Iraq since the 2002 Bilderberg meeting in Chantilly, Virginia. Rumsfeld himself had promised them it wouldn't happen. Last week, everybody struck back at Rumsfeld, asking about the infamous "weapons of mass destruction". Most of Europe's elite do not believe American promises that Iraq's oil will "benefit the Iraqi people". They know that revenues from Iraqi oil will be used to rebuild what America has bombed. And the debate is still raging on what kind of contracts which rewarded Bechtel and Halliburton will "benefit" Western Europe.

Europe's elite, according to those close to Bilderberg, are suspicious that the US does not need or even want a stable, legitimate central government in Iraq. When that happens, there will be no reason for the US to remain in the country. Europe's elite see the US establishing "facts on the ground": establishing a long-term military presence and getting the oil flowing again under American control. This could go on for years, as long as the Americans can guarantee enough essential services to prevent the Iraqi people from engaging in a war of national liberation.

It was also extremely hard at the Versailles meeting to forge a consensus on the necessity of a European Union army totally independent of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The US establishment, of course, is against the EU army. But so are some Europeans, starting with anti-army cheerleader Lord Robertson, NATO's secretary general. Europe's elite can't stand US domination of NATO any more. Some Europeans suggest a separate force, but controlled by NATO. Americans argue that a separate EU force would dissolve NATO's role as the UN's world army. And Americans insist that NATO is no longer confined to the defense of Europe: its troops now could go anywhere in the world, directed or not by the UN Security Council. The impasse remains.

All these crucial developments were discussed behind closed doors. The Trianon Palace Hotel in Versailles was closed to the public and all non-Bilderberg guests had to check out. Part-time employees were sent home. The ones who remained were told that they would be fired if caught revealing anything about the meeting. They couldn't speak to any Bilderberger unless spoken to. They couldn't look anybody in the eye. Armed guards completely isolated and cordoned off the hotel. Some members of the American corporate press were there - but the public will never know about it: Bilderberg news is not fit to print - or broadcast. No journalists from any media controlled by Bilderberg multinational tycoons such as Rupert Murdoch were or will be allowed to report it. Even if they somehow managed to crash the party. There's no business like (private) elite business.

Thule was a legendary island (this "Island" is obviously an attempt to reference the hollow earth)  in the far north, similar to Atlantis, supposedly the center of a lost, high-level civilization. But not all secrets of that civilization had been completely wiped out. Those that remained were being guarded by ancient, highly intelligent beings (similar to the "Masters" of Theosophy or the White Brotherhood).  The truly initiated could establish contact with these beings by means of magic-mystical rituals.  The "Masters" or "Ancients" allegedly would be able to endow the initiated with supernatural strength and energy.  With the help of these energies the goal of the initiated was to create a race of Supermen (supermen is another term applied to the giants) of "Aryan" stock who would exterminate all "inferior" races.

Outwardly an innocent club composed of persons who wanted to study and promote old Germanic literature, it was actually devoted to extreme nationalism, race mysticism, occultism, and anti-Semitism. The society was an offshoot of the Germanenorder (German Order - but not the Teutonic Order), whose base was in Berlin and whose branches throughout Germany were patterned after the Masonic lodges. The München branch received its name from 'Thule,' in Nordic mythology the legendary kingdom whence came the ancient Germanic peoples. The Roman historian Polybius (ca. 150 B.C.) made first mention of the "island, or point of land, six days' sail north of Orcades" [Orkneys, Britain] observed during a voyage by Pytheas in the late-4th Century B.C. As you can see from these two passages they references an elusive island to the far north.  But is it really a myth, or is it based in fact.  

There is little doubt that Adolf Hitler was greatly influenced by the beliefs of this secret society.  He saw the origins of his Aryan race to be from the far north and of "Super Man" stock.  Who are these supermen? I strongly suspect that it is the same super human race Olaf Janson ran into during his voyage to the far north.

The "Masters" or "Ancients" allegedly would be able to endow the initiated with supernatural strength and energy.  With the help of these energies the goal of the initiated was to create a race of Supermen of "Aryan" stock who would exterminate all "inferior" races.  Could it be that these Ancients are in fact, the giants that live in the hollow?  Olaf states that this race is very peaceful and benevolent.  If that were the case why would they support "extermination?  Why would they covertly via mysticisms and magic, back Adolf Hitler and his "cleansing" of humanity?

If they are the very same race that Olaf spoke of, then the answer may be very simple, vengeance.  If you have studied the biblical stories about "Giants" you see the all out warfare that was waged against our super sized cousins.  But why don't these giants just wipe us out on there own?  Maybe its because of their peaceful and non violent nature.  It might be that they think their hands will be clean if they secretly tricked mankind into killing itself off via wars.  Yes, secret societies to covertly manipulate mankind into destroying itself.

The Vril Society or The Luminous Lodge combined the political ideals of the Order of the Illuminati with Hindu mysticism, Theosophy and the Cabbala. It was the first German nationalist groups to use the symbol of the swastika as an emblem linking Eastern and Western occultism. The Vril Society presented the idea of a subterranean matriarchal, socialist utopia ruled by superior beings who had mastered the mysterious energy called the Vril Force.

"This secret society was founded, literally, on Bulwer Lytton's novel the Coming Race (1871). The book describes a race of men psychically far in advance of our own. They have acquired powers over themselves and over things that made them almost godlike. For the moment they are in hiding. They are said to live in caves in the center of the Earth. Soon they will emerge to reign over us."

While researching their classic book, Morning of the Magicians, authors Jacques Bergier and Louis Pauwels were given the above account by one of the world's greatest rocket experts, Dr. Willy Ley, who fled Germany in 1933. Dr. Ley said that the Vril Society—which formed shortly before the Nazis came to power—believed they had secret knowledge that would enable them to change their race and become equals of the men hidden in the bowels of the Earth. Methods of concentration, a whole system of internal gymnastics by which they would be transformed.

These methods of concentration were probably based on Ignatius Loyola's Spiritual Exercises. The Jesuit techniques of concentration and visualization are similar to many occult teachings, especially in shamanic cults and Tibetan Buddhism. The Nazi's revered these Jesuit Spiritual Exercises, which they believed had been handed down from ancient Masters of Atlantis. The occultists of the time knew that Ignatius was a Basque — some claimed that the Basque people were the last remnant of the Alantean race — and the proper use of these techniques would enable the reactivation of the Vril for the dominance of the Teutonic race over all others.

The Vril Society believed that whoever becomes master of the Vril will be the master of himself, of others around him and of the world. The belief was that the world will change and the "Lords" will emerge from the center of the Earth. Unless we have made an alliance with them and become "Lords" ourselves, we shall find ourselves among the slaves, on the dung-heap that will nourish the roots of the New Cities that will arise.

In The Unknown Hitler, Wulf Schartzwaller says:

In Berlin, Haushofer had founded the Luminous Lodge or the Vril Society. The Lodge's objective was to explore the origins of the Aryan race and to perform exercises in concentration to awaken the forces of "Vril". Haushofer was a student of the Russian magician and metaphysician George Gurdjieff. Both Gurdjieff and Haushofer maintained that they had contacts with secret Tibetan lodges that possessed the secret of the "Superman." The Lodge included Hitler, Aalfred, Rosenberg, Himmler, Goring and Hitler's subsequent personal physician Dr. Morell. It is also known that Aleister Crowley and Gurdjieff sought contact with Hitler. Hitler's unusual powers of suggestion become more understandable if one keeps in mind that he had access to the "secret" psychological techniques of Gurdjieff which, in turn, were based on the teachings of the Sufis and the Tibetan lamas and familiarized him with the Zen teaching of the Japanese Society of the Green Dragon.

In Lytton's The Coming Race, the subterranean people use the Vril Force to operate and govern the world (a few children armed with vril-powered rods are said capable of exterminating a race of over 22 million threatening barbarians). Served by robots and able to fly on vril-powered wings, the vegetarian Vril-ya are — by their own reckoning — racially and culturally superior to everyone else on Earth, above or below the ground. At one point the narrator concludes (from linguistic evidence) that the Vril-ya are "descended from the same ancestors as the great Aryan family, from which in varied streams has flowed the dominant civilization of the world."

The Vril Force or Vril Energy was said to be derived from the Black Sun, a big ball of "Prima Materia" which supposedly exists in the center of the Earth, giving light to the Vril-ya and putting out radiation in the form of Vril. The Vril Society believed that Aryans were the actual biological ancestors of the Black Sun.

This force was known to the ancients under many names, and it has been called Chi, Ojas, Vril, Astral Light, Odic Forces and Orgone. In a discussion of the 28th degree of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry—called Knight of the Sun or Prince Adept— Albert Pike said, "There is in nature one most potent force, by means whereof a single man, who could possess himself of it, and should know how to direct it, could revolutionize and change the face of the world."

This is the force that the Nazis and their inner occult circle were so desperately trying to unleash upon the world, for which the Vril Society had apparently groomed Hitler. A manifestation of the "Great Work" promulgated by the Adepts of secret societies throughout the ages. The Vril Society latched on to a very old archetype already in the minds of alchemists and magicians, which was only re-interpreted, by Lytton, in light of that age of occult revival and scientific progress.

The idea of mutation and transformation into a higher form of a "god-man" was envisioned, through the Vril-ya, in Buller-Lytton's The Coming Race. Lytton, himself, was an initiate of the Rosicrucians and was well versed in the arcane-esoteric philosophies (and of course the greatest advances in the sciences of his day). "Through his romantic works of fiction he expressed the conviction that there are beings endowed with superhuman powers. These beings will supplant us and bring about a formidable mutation in the elect of the human race."(J. Bergier)

This is where the philosophy turns dangerous. The moment we speak of an elect and "illumined" class which is above the general populace, you inevitably encounter racism and classism — with fascism in due course. "We must beware of this notion of a mutation," Bergier warns. "It crops up again with Hitler, and is not extinct today."

Bergier and Pauwels were writing in 1960, but today this philosophy is, sadly, once again in the forefront of popular culture. The New World Order, so vehemently opposed, is under the direct influence and guidance of the New Age Movement. A hodgepodge of occult doctrines and dangerous socialism, which hides under a cover of "spiritual enlightenment." Theosophy is considered the main foundation, and its founder, Mme. Blavatsky, was a great admirer of Lytton's. In The Occult Conspiracy, the excellent researcher, Michael Howard, writes about the compatability of the two philosophies:

Blavatsky had read Bulwer Lytton's novels and was very impressed by their occult content, especially Zanoni and the Last Days of Pompei. The latter was published in 1834 and dealt with the time between early Christianity and the Mysteries of Isis in Italy in the first century A.D.

Blavatsky's esotericism was virulently anti-Christian...The racial ideas of Madame Blavatsky, concerning root races and the emergence of a spiritually-developed type of human being in the Aquarian Age, were avidly accepted by the nineteenth-century German nationalists who mixed Theosophical occultism with anti-Semitism and the doctrine of the racial supremacy of the Aryan or Indo-European peoples.

Vril Powered Nazi UFOs?

 Perhaps the most wild claims still circulating about the Vril Society, and its offshoot The Thule Society, is the legends of a secret Nazi UFO program. Presumably the Vril Society established contact with the "Secret Chiefs" or the Vril-ya themselves, and secretly began cooperating with certain German scientists in the late 20's.

As early as 1936 Hitler was sending teams of "Spelunkers" into caves and mines all over Europe searching for the Vril-ya. The Nazi's had also explored Antartica extensively during the years 1937-38. In search of the fabled hole of the South Pole they apparently had success, like Admiral Byrd, in discovering these entrances. It was here that some say they made contact with the "Unknown Superman" who lived in the fabled "Rainbow City".

"In his controversial presentation UFO Secrets of the Third Reich, Vladimir Terziski draws a connection between alien beings and such German secret societies as the Tempelhoff, the Thule, the Vril, and the Black Sun. Terziski tells of an "alien tutor race" that secretly began cooperating with certain German scientists in the late 1920's in underground bases and began to introduce their concepts of philosophical, cultural, and technological progress." "With help from extraterrestrial intelligences, Terziski postulates, the Nazis mastered antigravity space flight, established space stations, accomplished time travel, and developed their spacecraft to warp speeds. At the same time the aliens "spread their Mephistophelean ideas" into the wider German population through the Thule and Vril Societies."

"Terziski maintains that antigravity research began in Germany in the 1920's with the first hybrid antigravity circular craft, the RFZ-1, constructed by the Vril Society. In 1942-43 a series of antigravity machines culminated in the giant 350-foot long, cigar-shaped Andromeda space station, which was constructed in old zeppelin hangars near Berlin by E4, the research and development arm of the SS." A familiar tune by now for those familiar with UFOlore. Many books have claimed this as well — although none of them seem to agree on one particular scenario. Many photographs have also turned up as would be expected. Some have been exposed as hoaxes while others remain "unknowns". The Allies confiscated every scrap of Nazi documents, and most are still classified to this day. It is well known that the Germans had some out of this world research for the time. Incidentally, the Vril Society's existence was verified in the pilfered records and is in the possession of the British.

If in fact the Vril-Ya do exist and the Nazis did indeed establish contact with this superior race, then we could assume that this antigravity propulsion worked on the principles of Vril force. On the other hand, the Nazis, it has already been established, were driven by occult groups, like the Vril society, whose workings extended into the reaches of just such a force that would lead to the discovery Vril. So whether the tale of the Vril-Ya is for real or not is besides the point. 

Many have discovered this force independently of Lytton's work. It will continue to be suppressed. And for exactly the reasons that Lytton warned about in his book.
