45 Gathering Together (Massing)
|
"[With devotion comes intensity: Assembling] One eliminates all weapons to implement this. [As a result] guards are setup to warn [and protect]."
Class: Integrating
Cooperative format : In hexagram 45 we find a social unit with strong traditional roots remains balanced. These spiritual foundations are celebrated, with the celebration itself acting as a boost to unity; enforcing the strength of the group. In the image, to avoid possible conflicts in these situations, all weapons are banned and, as a result, weapons as a precautionary tool no longer exist. This requires that guards be to be set to warn of possible dangers.
Oppositional format : lake against darkness.
Template/MBTI format : Expansive bonding in a context of contractive blending. Intense self-reflection in a context of devotion.
Five-Phase Relationships : The trigram of Earth reflects Filtration (through belief, given rules). The trigram of Lake reflects Exchange (cooperative). FIltration (by faith) through Exchange (by cooperation) is expressed as congregating to celebrate that faith - to 'exchange' with one's 'god'.
Hexagram 45 is the specific of hexagram 22 fascading.
Goal of 45 - hexagram 05 (or 'how do I 05? - 45' How do I cultivate connections? Through a positive, celebrating crowd)
45 is the goal of 17 (or 'how do I 45? - 17' How do I form a crowd, a congregation to celebrate a belief? By having formed a belief in the first place)
The raw context from which this situation derives is described by hexagram 12. The raw nature of the base line position is described through analogy with hexagram 25 non-involvement/Disentangling. It passes through hexagram 35 Progressing before being fully expressed in hexagram 45.

Above.
By introducing this hexagram as context, you can change a state described by any other hexagram into a state described by hexagram 12. To make a state associated with another hexagram transform into this state, introduce hexagram 12 as context.
Introducing a context based on the characteristics of hexagram 45 leads to the expression of the characteristics of hexagram 12, namely in increase in rigidity regarding defending one's faith; neutralising all opposition. Reciprocally, introducing a context based on neutralising oppositions ensures the emergence of the celebration of faith.
It is important to remember that, when using transformative methods, the more lines requiring change, the more energy required when attempting to introduce a different context. It may therefore be of benefit to work on existing changing lines and achieve your goal in steps rather than attempt, for example, a six-line change all at once.
To 'go with the flow', any hexagram that is changing into hexagram 19 reflects an influence of 45 on that hexagram in that the 'flow' is in hexagram 45 and as such this reflects the need to adapt to that flow and so take-on the properties and methods of 45.
