14 Possession in Great Measure
|
"[With perseverence comes direction]. [Power through direction] : [Forceful & Goal Directed] Fire resides above heaven : Possessing the Great. One terminates hate to spread[/show] improvement, [Could be a political move] and uses yielding to 'God' to let go of individual destiny (one's own fate). [To explicitly (publicly) put one's fate in god's hands rather than to retain some control. Politically useful as it enables the denial of responsibility]".
Class: Differentiating
In hexagram 14 one's perseverance for recognition (35) has succeeded, in that we are in a position of power; strongly commited and actively guiding development from centre stage, although one must be wary of being too forceful.
Hexagram 14 is the general form of hexagram 29
Goal of 14 - hexagram 50 (or 'how do I 50? - 14')
Five-Phase Relationships : The trigram of Heaven reflects Exchange (through competition). The trigram of Fire reflect Distribution. Exchange through distribution is expressed as a center of power and profit.
14 is the goal of 20 (or 'how do I 14? - 20' How do I become wealthy, the center of guidance etc? By being admired, respected and so used by others as an example to follow)
The raw context from which the situation is derived is described by hexagram 34. The base line position is described by analogy to hexagram 32 commiting. It passes through hexagram 43 Spreading-out before reaching here.

Above.
By introducing this hexagram as context, you can change a state described by any other hexagram into a state described by hexagram 34. To make a state associated with another hexagram transform into this state, introduce hexagram 34 as context.
It is important to remember that, when using transformative methods, the more lines requiring change, the more energy required when attempting to introduce a different context. It may therefore be of benefit to work on existing changing lines and achieve your goal in steps rather than attempt, for example, a six-line change all at once.
To 'go with the flow', any hexagram that is changing into hexagram 13 reflects an influence of 14 on that hexagram in that the 'flow' is in hexagram 14 and as such this reflects the need to adapt to that flow and so take-on the properties and methods of 14.
