59 Dispersion (Dissolution)
Dispelling Illusions
In a context of containment we utilise influence

"HUAN : scatter clouds or crowds; break up obstacles; dispel illusions, fears and suspicions; clear up misunderstandings; dissolve, evaporate, disintegrate, fade, vanish; fog lifting or clearing away."ERANOS p622

"[With containment comes influence : Dispelling]
In primal times one made offerings to the gods to establish
the temples."

Class: Differentiating

Commentary :

In hexagram 59 a gentle change can be used to soften any defense mechanism. Once a crack appears the influence strengthens by slipping through the crack and working from within. This form of release is far more subtle and long term than 37/40 and is associated with the obscuration of 55 where the abundance of the harvest can obscure things. It involves the concept of trust and penetrating defenses leading to the ability to clear things away - to dispell illusions. Contextually we combine articulation/standards (60) with establishing uniformity (07) to dispel illusions.

hexagram 59 is the general form of hexagram 34 where the particular emphasis on motivation acts to dispell, to make things 'clear'.

Goal of 59 - hexagram 42 (or 'how do I 42? - 59')

Five-Phase Relationships : The trigram of Water reflects Consumption. The trigram of Wind reflects Production (through re-production, cultivation). This relationship is expressed as dispelling illusions as well as the concept of what is consumed not being final, it gets broken down, used, and so 'evaporates' and the 'need' for more continues.

59 is the goal of 61 (or 'how do I 59? - 61' How do I dispell illusions? By being sympathetic/empathetic to/with others - to be 'true' to self and others)

Extended Commentary

The raw context from which the situation derives is described by hexagram 29. The base line position is described by analogy with hexagram 60 articulating/Standardizing (seperate and distinguish). It passes through hexagram 07 Uniforming before reaching here.

Transformative methods

By introducing this hexagram as context, you can change a state described by any other hexagram into a state described by hexagram 29. To make a state associated with another hexagram transform into this state, introduce hexagram 29 as context.

It is important to remember that, when using transformative methods, the more lines requiring change, the more energy required when attempting to introduce a different context. It may therefore be of benefit to work on existing changing lines and achieve your goal in steps rather than attempt, for example, a six-line change all at once.

Context as Push

To 'go with the flow', any hexagram that is changing into hexagram 48 reflects an influence of 59 on that hexagram in that the 'flow' is in hexagram 59 and as such this reflects the need to adapt to that flow and so take-on the properties and methods of 59.
