25 The Unexpected (Innocence)
|
"[With enlightenment comes singlemindedness]. Under heaven, moving thunder. People associated with [Non-Involvement]. In primal times one nurtured the many beings through vigourous correspondence to the seasons.[strong regulating, or 'spoon feeding', encourages the development of a lack of participation]"
Class: Differentiating
In hexagram 25, to express one's self strongly and openly and unexpectedly is an act of innocence since it comes from the heart and thus is not premeditated ( a moment of enlightenment). To escape from the dark side, the side of service, requires an initial act; one needs to do something and get involved with the new and disentangled from the old. The line comments show that non-involvement/disentanglement has it's ups and downs.
Hexagram 25 is the general form of hexagram 15
Five-Phase Relationships : The trigram of Thunder reflects Production (new, fresh). The trigram of Heaven reflects Exchange (through competition, opposition). The relationships is expressed as standing-up to express one's opinion without fear, ignoring consequences of one's actions as an act of 'breaking-free'.
Goal of 25 - hexagram 12 (or 'how do I 12? - 25')
25 is the goal of 06 (or 'how do I 25? - 06' How do I 'say what I want to say'? Through compromise/conflict - stand up by preparation and meeting things half way, no less (as in the trigram structure of 12))
The raw context from which the situation derives is described by hexagram 17. The base line position is described by hexagram 45 gathering capabilities/massing. It passes through hexagram Enlightening/Awareness before reaching here.

By introducing this hexagram as context, you can change a state described by any other hexagram into a state described by hexagram 17. To make a state associated with another hexagram transform into this state, introduce hexagram 17 as context.
It is important to remember that, when using transformative methods, the more lines requiring change, the more energy required when attempting to introduce a different context. It may therefore be of benefit to work on existing changing lines and achieve your goal in steps rather than attempt, for example, a six-line change all at once.
To 'go with the flow', any hexagram that is changing into hexagram 34 reflects an influence of 25 on that hexagram in that the 'flow' is in hexagram 25 and as such this reflects the need to adapt to that flow and so take-on the properties and methods of 25.
