07 The Army

Cooperative Format : Hexagram 07 is the formalized manifestation of like-mindedness, a degree of uniformity. The like mindedness is imposed by the structure and is therefore sociological and so general rather than psychological and so more particular (as in 13); the only way is the Army's way through the concentration of forces and the dispelling illusions/clearing things away. Hexagram 07 is an example of the general form, the group expression, of hexagram 01
Oppositional Format : Hexagram 07 reflects the establishment of containment through the use of a military force.
Structural Relationship (Being) : Hexagram 07 is the opposite of hexagram 13 in that 07 reflects an imposed order, insensitive to the individual's preferences as compared to 13s attraction to associate with the likeminded - there is a degree of casualness in 13 as compared to the rigidity in 07.
Temporal Relationship (Doing) : The goal of 07 is hexagram 24 (or 'how do I 24? - 07' - How do I follow the 'true' path? Uniformity in thinking, regimented.)
Five-Phase Relationships : The trigram of Water reflects Consumption. The trigram of Earth reflects Filtration (through faith). The focus is on the containment (a function of consumption) expressed through devotion as filtration - and so the concept of an Army, a sense of social Uniformity.
07 is the goal of 19 (or 'how do I 07? - 19' - How do I develop uniformity? Allow the high and low to mix but retain some degree of authority (as in the high will defer to the low but still be 'high'))
Referring to the Quality Matrix below, the raw context from which hexagram 07 derives is described by analogy with hexagram 04. Once within hexagram 07, base level is described by analogy with the general nature of hexagram 41 Concentrating (literally & metaphorically) in that hexagram 41 is linked to the bottom line of hexagram 07 and expresses the general concentration of a force. The development path of qualitative expression works up through the lines of hexagram 07 where at line 5 it is best expressed by analogy to hexagram 59 Dispelling/Dispersing where the intent of the development is to dispel all illusions, making things perfectly clear. This 'dispelling' need is finally transformed at the peak of the hexagram, line 6, into the expression of uniformity and the concept of the Army.

At worst, hexagram 07 has qualities analogous to the process of socialisation, of masking, as expressed in hexagram 04. At best hexagram 07 has qualities analogous to the process of revelation and revolution as expressed in hexagram 49.
By introducing hexagram 07 as context, you can change a state described by any other hexagram into a state described by hexagram 04. To make a state associated with another hexagram transform into this state, introduce hexagram 04 as context.
The emphasis is where to educate the young, in particular as a form of socialisation, (represented by 04) you need to establish a context of uniformity first. Reciprocally, introducing education as a contextual emphasis leads to the development of uniformity.
It is important to remember that, when using transformative methods, the more lines requiring change, the more energy required when attempting to introduce a different context. It may therefore be of benefit to work on existing changing lines and achieve your goal in steps rather than attempt, for example, a six-line change all at once.
To 'go with the flow', any hexagram that is changing into hexagram 08 reflects an influence of 07 on that hexagram in that the 'flow' is in hexagram 07 and as such this reflects the need to adapt to that flow and so take-on the properties and methods of 07.
