Robert Quarme Nancarrow and Mary Towsey were married on 16 September 1843 at the
Register Office in Truro, Cornwall. They emigrated to Sydney, Australia, in 1848 , with their two daughters
Frances (Fanny) and Jane, on board the ship Thetis. Robert joined the gold rush during the 1850s, and was at the
Majors Creek diggings in 1858 when his wife Mary died. Robert married his second wife, a widow, Susannah
Broadhead (nee Peel) on 20 January 1859 at Braidwood. She died in 1864 and the following year Robert married
his third wife Kate Ruedin (nee Seeker) at Cooma. He died at Moruya, NSW, in 1884. His wife Kate, survived him
and died in 1899 at Newington Asylum, Sydney. She is buried in Rookwood Cemetery.
